Firm History

The litigation law firm of Hartel, Kane, DeSantis, MacDonald & Howie, LLP was established in May of 2000 by Timothy E. Howie, Neil J. MacDonald, Michael A. DeSantis, Deborah E. Kane, and John W. Hartel. Each of the five founding partners was an equity partner at an established Maryland litigation law firm immediately prior to forming Hartel Kane. Together, the partners of Hartel Kane have over 90 years of experience litigating civil and criminal cases in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

Since its inception in 2000, Hartel Kane has approximately tripled in size. The firm is currently comprised of five partners, an attorney who practices in an “of counsel” role, and several associate attorneys.
